Moroccan Spiced Coffee, or Gahwa, is a fragrant-scented beverage steeped in cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg. It’s not coffee, actually — it’s a comforting Moroccan ritual — warming, slightly sweet, and richly deep. Perfect for cold mornings or after supper
- Ingredients :
- 2 cups water
- 2 tbsp ground coffee (Arabica or espresso blend)
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground cardamom
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1–2 tsp sugar (to taste)
- Optional: a few drops of orange blossom wate
- 👩🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a small pot, bring water to a gentle boil.
- Add the ground coffee, cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg.
- Lower the heat and simmer for 3–4 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
- Add sugar to taste and stir gently.
- Optional: add a few drops of orange blossom water for a floral aroma.
- Pour carefully into cups, leaving the grounds at the bottom of the pot.
- Serve immediately, ideally with Moroccan sweets like Kaab el Ghazal or Fekkas.
🍋 Tips / Notes
💡 For a richer version, brew with a mix of coffee and milk. You can also adjust the spice level — Moroccan Gahwa is flexible and personal!
