  • 500g ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 400g canned tomatoes or 3 fresh tomatoes, grated
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin

  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

  • In a bowl, mix all meatball ingredients thoroughly. Shape into small meatballs.
  • Heat olive oil in a pan or tagine over medium heat. Brown the meatballs lightly on all sides, then remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, sauté garlic until fragrant. Add tomatoes, paprika, cumin, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes until sauce thickens.
  • Return meatballs to the sauce and simmer for another 10–15 minutes until cooked through.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro before serving.
